Sustainability

Caloy’s focus on healthy, natural ingredients stems from our passion for people and the planet. We source our nuts from family-owned farms who are devoted to sustainability and a balanced ecosystem.

Asset 4

Water-Conscious Farming

The Almond Board of California works with its grower-members to research and implement water-saving efforts throughout the community. Over the past twenty years, California almond farmers have reduced the amount of water used to grow a pound of almonds by 33% through the use of microirrigation – targeting water applications directly at the roots instead of using flood irrigation or large sprinklers. The grower community has committed to reducing water usage by an additional 20% by 2025.

Asset 6

Zero-Waste Innovation

Many of our growers have also embraced the Zero Waste philosophy and are actively looking for new and exciting ways to use the entire plant. For example, the Almond Board is funding research into using almond shells as an additive to post-consumer recycled plastic and exploring feeding the almond hulls to insects, which are then used as poultry feed.

Asset 5

Bee-Friendly Agriculture

Another benefit of California’s almond orchards is the relationship between the trees and bees. Almond trees rely on bees to cross-pollinate from tree to tree each spring. Almond blooms provide the bees with their first natural source of food each year, and almond pollen is highly nutritious. Honey bees routinely leave stronger after visiting the orchards.

Food Use

Our production facility has implemented a robust Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety program and is Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) certified . All our products and packaging are food grade and allergen-free.

Nut oils are full of health benefits, including Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, and unsaturated fats, while adding a light, nutty flavor.

Pharmaceutical Use

Our almond oil meets United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and National Formulary (NF) purity grade, and European pharmacopeia quality standards.

Cosmetic Use

Our oils are key emollients and emulsifiers for natural cosmetic products. Nut oils can be used in skin toners, hair and body cleansing agents, body butters and lotions, and more thanks to its many natural benefits and properties. Rich in linoleic acid, oleic acid, and Vitamins D, C, E, and A, pure nut oils have been praised for containing cancer-prevention agents and skin-moisturizing capabilities.

Caloy is a proud member and supporter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. We supply 100% pure almond oil, not a blend of cheaper oils such as sunflower or safflower.

For Caloy, purity is a priority.
